Iowa
  U Iowa Hosps:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Really friendly people, very relaxed interviews that were mostly just talking about my hobbies
- Program Advantages:
Really strong faculty in MSK and Neuro, was told Body was strong as well. Beautiful facilities and newer equipment
- Program Disadvantages:
Cold winters? The parking was really bad, that was the only negative most of the residents or faculty could come up with

Kansas
  U Kansas (Wichita):
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Met a resident for breakfast at Panera by the hospital. Really nice people all around.
- Program Advantages:
Collegial and approachable faculty, all faculty seemed really interested in the education of the residents.
- Program Disadvantages:
Wichita seemed kind of bland, it's a small program and I'm not sure how much variety they get pathology-wise
  U Kansas Med Ctr:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Really laid back, although I wasn't able to interview with the PD because he was in a case. The only tough interview was with the Dept. Chair.
- Program Advantages:
Really good IR experience with residents doing just about everything except TIPS and intracerebral stuff. Residents and faculty are very collegial and seem to all get along well.
- Program Disadvantages:
Not much research (not a big deal to me), no night float (they said they liked it better without night float), residents seemed to 'work hard, play hard' which was a little too frat-ish for me.

Minnesota
  Mayo (Rochester):
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Matched here (Ranked # 1)
- Interview Experience:
Breakfast and presentation by PD and fellowship director. Really nice faculty to interview with. Lunch with the residents and then noon conference.
- Program Advantages:
Huge variety of path (you WILL see all the zebras), facilities are among the best in the world, cutting edge technology, along with really friendly people.
- Program Disadvantages:
Rochester is rough in the winters, if you're single you may not have a lot of options to meet people unless you drive to Minneapolis.

Missouri
  St Louis U SOM:
- Applied
  U Missouri at Kansas City:

  U Missouri-Columbia:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Interviewed with Chairman, PD, another faculty, and a chief resident. Everyone was nice and easygoing, no tough questions. Lunch was at this really nice on-campus alumni club, excellent food and setting.
- Program Advantages:
Great town, nice people, solid mid-level academic program
- Program Disadvantages:
Overshadowed a bit by WashU/MIR, not much of a reputation, good or bad, from people I talked to. Chairman has a pretty sordid history (embezzeled money from PP colleagues in the 70s).

New Mexico
  U New Mexico:

Oklahoma
  Integris Baptist Med Ctr:
- Rotated at this institution
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Integris only interviews one applicant per day, so I was personally shown around by one of the residents. Interviewed with 3 of the staff radiologists who were all really nice guys, I had already worked with them when I rotated there so we just kind of t
- Program Advantages:
Solid community program, very well-trained staff, residents all get along well, residents have plenty of time to study and aren't overworked.
- Program Disadvantages:
Smaller program (4 residents per year), community-based label may hurt it
  U Oklahoma Ctr:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Interviewed with two chiefs at the same time who pretty much told me about the program, then interviewed with the PD and two other faculty. Ended with lunch with two residents. Very laid back and friendly experience.
- Program Advantages:
Tons of path, especially trauma (only Level 1 trauma center in OKC). Residents seem to get a lot of good fellowships. Residents felt their only weak area was IR.
- Program Disadvantages:
The workload has been a notorious disadvantage with this program, with residents in the past supposedly being worked to the bone and not having time to study for Boards. The residents I talked to felt that this was no longer as big of an issue.

Texas
  Baylor COM:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Interview with 3 faculty, tour the TMC campus, lunch with a resident, and attend a noon conference.
- Program Advantages:
TMC is amazing (MD Anderson, Texas Children's), the staff were all friendly that I met. All the residents loved the PD. IR experience is supposedly second only to Northwestern
- Program Disadvantages:
Houston seemed pretty awful (tons of traffic, VERY muggy weather), they are starting to focus more on pushing research (NOT what I was interested in).
  Baylor U Med Ctr:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Interview day started with a really well-done introduction by the PD, Dr. Oza. The 8 interviewees were split into 2 groups, with one group touring the facilities before lunch and the other group interviewing before lunch, then switching after lunch. The
- Program Advantages:
Staff that have trained at all the well known places and have connections, moonlighting is awesome, education and breadth of path is great due to BUMC being a level 1 trauma center, transplant center, and having an associated cancer center. The staff doe
- Program Disadvantages:
The only one I can come up with is the 'community-based' label may be a negative to some.
  Texas A&M COM-Scott and White:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Started off with a tour of the facility, then interviewed with a chief resident, 2 staff, and the PD who was great.
- Program Advantages:
Excellent teaching, great facilities, nice people, and good moonlighting.
- Program Disadvantages:
Temple, Texas is not a very pretty town, although some residents said they live halfway between Temple and Austin and just commute the 20 miles to work every morning.
