- Attended interview
- Program Advantages:
Residents extremely happy. Great benefits, research ops.
- Program Disadvantages:
Just merged with an acquired community program - less competitive residents suddenly mixed with more competitive residents. A little bit of a strange brew, but seem to be happy. Felt like residents were probably not as hard working as some other places, w

  Indiana U SOM:
- Applied

- Interview Experience:
Extremely friendly and relaxed, really just trying to tell you about the advantages of the program. Low pressure, friendly interviews.
- Program Advantages:
Residents all really happy. PD extremely savvy about the new Core Curriculum, and the program has prepared well. Boasts a 100% board pass rate on first attempt. Residents feel training is on par with the best institutions. Faculty extremely engaged in edu
- Program Disadvantages:
Indiana not a desirable location for many - one of the residents said, 'If this program was on a coast, it would be top tier.' Some research going on, especially in neuro, but not a strong research institution. I honestly don't have many negatives.

  Mass Gen Hosp/Harvard:

- Interview Experience:
Very friendly. Nice pre-interview dinner.
- Program Advantages:
Outstanding teaching, see all types of cutting edge stuff, friendly faculty, great research opportunities.
- Program Disadvantages:
Boston was too expensive, too much hassle for me and my family. If I were single, I would have ranked higher. Residents didn't seem as hard working as some other top places, but that's probably an advantage for some people.

Michigan
  U Michigan:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Program Advantages:
Residents extremely happy and well integrated. Ann Arbor is a cool place to live if you do not want a major metro area (like me). Has all the resources, great teaching, research of the top schools.
- Program Disadvantages:
I didn't see much down side here. Sounds like IR isn't very hands on for residents (fellows do the cases). Traffic in Ann Arbor is bad for its size.

Minnesota
  Mayo (Rochester):

Missouri
  WUStL/B-JH/SLCH Cnsrt:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Speed dating interview style that I didn't care for. Most of the interviewers seemed a bit more stiff than other rads interviews, but still a positive interview day.
- Program Advantages:
Great teaching, research, variety of cases. Hands on program where the residents really learn to do the work, including in IR. Hard working program, but not over the top - this was a plus for me.
- Program Disadvantages:
Residents here were happy, but I have to admit that they did not seem as happy as some other programs. A few of the faculty I met, IMHO, took themselves too seriously.

New Hampshire
  Dartmouth-Hitchcock Med Ctr:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Extremely friendly, low pressure interview. Underrated program that ends up being less competitive than it should be because of location.
- Program Advantages:
Great faculty and teaching. Very hands on - residents will do most of the IR procedures, etc. Research available. Good pathology in spite of small location due to large 3ary referral catchment area.
- Program Disadvantages:
I liked the location but it's not for everyone - small community.

  SUNY Upstate Med U:

North Carolina
  Duke U Hosp:

- Matched here (Ranked # 1)
- Interview Experience:
Felt like the interviewers were really trying to get to know me as a person - like, 'I've already seen your CV. Let's talk about your personality and interests.' Really enjoyable.
- Program Advantages:
Top tier reputation, that I felt was well deserved. Teaching and research ops are excellent. The culture emphasizes being clinically relevant and knowing the clinical decision making to be more helpful to consulting physicians. Built in fellowship means m
- Program Disadvantages:
Durham has good culture for its size, but it's not for people who want to live in a major metro area. Sounds like IR is not very hands on (fellows do the cases).
  U N. Carolina Hosps:
- Applied
- Attended interview
- Interview Experience:
Very positive, fun interview.
- Program Advantages:
Great teaching. Strong research opportunities. Chapel Hill is a nice place to live.
- Program Disadvantages:
Residents kind of had an inferiority complex from being so close to Duke.
